Dana LaMontagne is an abstract artist based in Connecticut. She began her work in 2009 while employed as an interior painter for the Facilities Department at the UConn Law School in Hartford. There, she used the campus paint shop as a studio and began experimenting with mixed media and abstract expressionism, using old materials that would have otherwise been discarded.
Dana began developing her work more seriously in mid-2017. Her primary medium is now acrylic on canvas. For many pieces she creates texture and dimension by manipulating the paint with a heat gun and paper towels. None of her pieces are created with any deliberate direction. Each begins in the realm of abstract expressionism, with much of her recent work progressing into more representational imagery.
This site contains work painted beginning in 2018.
